2 Homemade Mouthwashes To Keep Your Mini Implants Bacteria Free During Pregnancy

Posted on

The rapid change of hormones in your body during your pregnancy can cause an imbalance throughout your entire body. This change in hormone levels commonly affects the way that your oral health reacts. Increased hormones disrupt the way that your mouth traditionally fights off bacteria. Therefore, you may experience increased levels of tooth decay and bacteria during pregnancy. If you are wearing mini implants, then this can put the health of your implants at risk. Build up of contaminants around your mini implants can cause your implants to develop a bacterial infection. Fortunately, there are a few mouthwashes that you can add to your routine in order to keep your mini implants bacteria free during pregnancy.

Marjoram Mouthwash

Marjoram is an incredibly strong antibacterial and antiviral herb that is commonly used to help ease toothaches. The herb can be used to prevent and treat various types of bacterial infections including dental infections. Add a few marjoram leaves to a medium sized cup and fill the cup with hot water. Allow the herb to steep for a few minutes until it cools. Add a few drops of lemon juice to the mixture and use the mouthwash to clean your entire mouth as well as your mini implants. Direct the mouthwash around your gum line in order to help break up any build up. Use the mouthwash immediately after eating in order to keep your mouth clean and free of bacteria.

Spearmint Mouthwash

Chalk full of antibacterial properties, spearmint has a subtle minty taste that makes it ideal for a mouthwash. The herb is commonly used in place of peppermint in order to fight against dental infections. An easy spearmint mouthwash can be created by adding fresh spearmint leaves to a small pot of water. Place the pot on the stove and allow it to boil. Remove it from the stove and add several drops of lemon juice. Allow the herb to soak overnight and in the morning use the mouthwash to clean your mouth. Use the spearmint mouthwash after brushing and flossing your teeth. Concentrate around your mini implants and any crevices where food particles get stuck. Use the mouthwash again at night in order to eliminate bacteria before bed.

If you wear mini implants, then it is important to stay on top of your oral health during pregnancy. The slightest lapse can result in bacteria growth. Therefore, use these mouthwashes to help keep your mini implants in good health. Contact a dentist, like Alliance Family Dental, for more help.
